The AI Doom Talk Is a Business Model

Build one AI model. Just one. You will never hear the doom talk the same way again.

The frontier labs keep telling us their machines could end the world. Then they build bigger ones. Then they walk into Washington and ask to write the rules.

Read that again.

Fear is not a warning here. Fear is a moat.

Call it what it is:
Posturing.
Virtue signaling.
Hype-scaling.
And the real prize — walls high enough to lock out small labs and open source.

Now the harder claim.

AI is not an existential threat to humans. A model cannot end a species it cannot touch. Real danger needs real hands — grids, weapons, water, supply chains. We have not handed those over. We do not have to.

And when that day comes closer, we already know the move. We built nuclear bombs. We did not outlaw physics. We ring-fenced the launch codes. We can ring-fence the systems that matter the same way — narrow, hard, and specific.

Meanwhile, look at what is actually burning the biosphere. It is not the model. It is us. Our carbon. Our extraction. Our appetite.

We are pointing the fire extinguisher at the smoke alarm.

So here is the ask. Write to your representative. Tell them plainly: regulate harm, not competition.

Every wall built to protect an incumbent is a head start handed to Beijing. Compute does not wait for a permit over there.

Lock the doors that matter. Leave the field open.
